- Use a before a word that starts with a consonant sound (b, c, d, f, g...). Example: a dog, a cookie.

Section 2: Action Words in Action (-ing Verbs)
- Rule 1: For verbs ending in a silent -e, drop the 'e' before adding '-ing'. Example: make → making.
- Rule 2: For short verbs ending in consonant-vowel-consonant (like p-i-n), double the last consonant before adding '-ing'. Example: run → running; stop → stopping.

Section 4: Counting Corner (Countable vs. Uncountable)
- Countable things are things you can count individually (one apple, two apples).
- Uncountable things are things you can't count one by one, like liquids, powders, or ideas (you can't say "one water" or "two happiness").
