Story: The Mystery of the Messy Park

Alex loved playing at Sunny Meadow Park, but one day, it was a mess! Trash was everywhere, the flowers were drooping, and the swings were squeaky. Alex felt sad.

Alex told some neighbors, who formed a cleanup crew. They brought trash bags and picked up all the litter. Then, a group from the local gardening club came. They watered the thirsty flowers and planted new ones. Finally, a city worker from the parks team arrived with an oil can and fixed the squeaky swings.

Working together, the different groups made the park beautiful and fun again! They solved a big problem by working as a team.

Part 1: Who Can Help?

Just like in the story, different groups help solve different problems. Draw a line to match the problem on the left with the group on the right that can help solve it.

Problem

  1. Lots of trash on the ground

  2. A sick or lost animal

  3. A fire in a building

  4. Someone needs help learning to read

Helper Group

  • Firefighters

  • Teachers or Tutors

  • A neighborhood cleanup crew

  • Animal rescue workers

What About Big Problems? How Countries Work Together

Just like the neighbors and clubs in the story, whole countries also work together to solve giant problems.

Think of it like sharing toys. If you have blocks and your friend has toy cars, you can share them to build an amazing city together!

Countries do the same thing.

  • One country might have doctors they can send to help another country after an earthquake.
  • Another country might share food with a country that doesn't have enough.
  • Many countries work together to clean up the ocean or protect animals that travel the world.

They form a team to do things no single country could do alone!

Part 2: Invent a Super Team!

Think of a problem you see in your school or neighborhood. Who could you team up with to help solve it? Fill out the chart below. We did the first one for you as an example.

Problem I See Who Can Help? (My Super Team) What Will They Do?
Example: Books in our class library are torn. My teacher, me, and two friends. We will use special tape to fix the pages and make a "Be Kind to Books" poster.

Challenge Question (Optional)

Imagine all the countries in the world decided to work together on ONE big project. What project do you think they should choose to help the whole world? Draw or write your idea below.
