Welcome to Coin Counting Camp! Money math uses skip counting to find the total value of coins quickly. Follow the steps below to practice identifying coins and calculating their value.

  1. Read the instructions for each section carefully.
  2. Always try to count the coins with the biggest value first (Quarters, then Dimes, then Nickels, then Pennies).
  3. Use the tables provided to record your answers.

Section 1: Coin Value Review

Before we begin counting, review the values of the four main U.S. coins:

Calculate the total value of the coins listed. Remember to start with the largest value coin first!

Section 4: Real-World Shopping Challenge

Imagine you are at the store. Calculate the total cost and decide if you have enough money.

  1. You want to buy a bouncy ball for 78¢.

    You have 2 Quarters, 2 Dimes, and 5 Pennies.
