Welcome, Sentence Detective! Your mission is to analyze sentences to ensure they are complete and follow correct structure. Read the instructions carefully for each section.
- Review the definitions for Subject and Predicate before starting Section A.
- In Section A, underline the simple subject and circle the simple predicate (verb) in each sentence.
- In Section B, analyze the phrases and determine if they are complete sentences or fragments, then sort them into the table.
- Complete the writing tasks in Sections C and D.
Section A: The Sentence Blueprint
The Subject is the main noun or pronoun the sentence is about (who or what performs the action).
The Predicate is the main verb or verb phrase that tells what the subject is doing or what is being done to it.

Section B: Complete Thought or Fragment?
Complete sentences must have a subject and a predicate, and express a complete thought.
A Fragment is an incomplete sentence; it might be missing a subject, a predicate, or fail to express a complete thought.

Section D: Building New Sentences (Real-World Application)
Write 8 original, complete sentences detailing the steps needed to plan a small event, like a picnic or a video game tournament. Ensure every sentence has a clear subject and predicate.

Create one complete sentence that includes both a Compound Subject (more than one subject joined by 'and' or 'or') AND a Compound Predicate (more than one verb joined by 'and' or 'or').
