Welcome to The Sentence Repair Shop! A complete sentence needs five things to work properly:

  1. Starts with a Capital Letter.
  2. Uses clear Spacing between words.
  3. Ends with Punctuation (like . ? or !).
  4. Has a Subject (Who or What is doing the action).
  5. Has a Predicate (The action or what the Subject is doing).

Complete the following tasks to practice building and fixing sentences.


Section 1: Fixing the Flow (Capitalization, Spacing, Punctuation)

Read each sentence below. Check the boxes if the sentence follows the three basic rules. If it needs fixing, rewrite the sentence correctly in the space provided.

Section 2: Subject and Predicate Identification

The Subject tells you who or what the sentence is about (Nouns/Pronouns). The Predicate tells you what the subject is doing (Verbs/Actions).

In the table below, circle the Subject and underline the Predicate in each sentence. Use the example to guide you.

Section 3: Building Complete Sentences

Combine one Subject from Column A with one Predicate from Column B to create three logical, complete sentences. Then, rewrite each finished sentence correctly, making sure to use proper capitalization and punctuation.

Note: All answers must begin with a capital letter and end with appropriate punctuation (. or !).
