Instructions
- Read each section carefully. This worksheet combines the world of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind with real-world math and creative writing skills.
- Complete the Math Challenges by calculating Stand statistics and travel distances across Italy.
- Use your imagination in the Storytelling section to create your own unique Stand and user.
- Test your logic with Mista’s probability puzzle.
- Check your work against the Answer Key provided at the end.
Section 1: Stand Stat Analytics (Math)
In Golden Wind, every Stand has a stat radar (Destructive Power, Speed, Range, Persistence, Precision, and Development Potential). For this exercise, we will convert the letter grades into numerical values to calculate a Combat Effectiveness Score (CES).
The Scale: A = 5 pts | B = 4 pts | C = 3 pts | D = 2 pts | E = 1 pt
| Stand Name | Power | Speed | Precision | Total Score (Sum) | Average Stat (Total ÷ 3) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gold Experience | C (3) | A (5) | C (3) | 11 | 3.66 |
| Sticky Fingers | A ( ) | G ( ) | C ( ) | ||
| Aerosmith | B ( ) | B ( ) | E ( ) | ||
| Sex Pistols | E ( ) | C ( ) | A ( ) | ||
| Purple Haze | A ( ) | B ( ) | E ( ) | ||
| Moody Blues | C ( ) | C ( ) | C ( ) |
Section 2: The Journey to Rome (Distance & Time)
Team Bucciarati needs to get from Naples to Rome to deliver Trish Una to the Boss.
-
The distance between Naples and Rome is approximately 220 kilometers. If the team travels by a stolen boat at a constant speed of 40 km/h, how many hours will it take them to reach Rome?
Calculation: ____
-
Halfway through the trip (at 110 km), they are attacked by an enemy Stand. The battle lasts for 45 minutes. If they resume their 40 km/h speed immediately after the fight, what is their new total travel time (including the fight)?
Calculation: ____
Section 3: Storytelling - The Art of the "Stand"
In JoJo, a Stand is a physical manifestation of a person's life energy and personality. A great story uses a character's power to reveal who they are.
Create your own Stand based on your own personality:
-
Stand Name (Must be a musical reference: a song, band, or album):
-
The Ability: (Describe one specific power. Avoid being "invincible." Every good Stand has a limit or a specific trigger):
-
The Weakness: (How could a clever opponent like Giorno defeat this Stand?):
-
The Manifestation: (What does it look like? Does it look like a robot, an animal, or a tool?):
Section 4: Mista’s Logic & Probability
Guido Mista is famously terrified of the number 4. He believes it brings extreme bad luck.
-
Mista has a 6-chamber revolver. He loads it with 6 bullets, but because of his phobia, he refuses to use the "4th" bullet in the sequence. If he fires 3 shots, how many bullets are left in the gun that he is actually willing to use?
Answer: ____
-
Probability Challenge: Mista's Stand, Sex Pistols, consists of 6 small entities numbered 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 (he skipped #4!). If Mista closes his eyes and picks one Pistol at random, what is the mathematical probability (expressed as a fraction) that he picks a Pistol with an odd number?
Calculation: ____
Section 5: Challenge Quest (The Boss’s Secret)
Golden Wind uses foreshadowing (hints about what will happen later). Early in the story, Giorno’s ability to give life to objects is shown. Later, this evolves into something much greater.
Short Answer: In a story, why is it better for a hero to win using a "clever trick" or "logic" rather than just being stronger than the villain? Give one example from a movie or book you know.
Answer Key
Section 1: Stand Stats
- Sticky Fingers: Power A(5), Speed A(5), Precision C(3). Total: 13. Average: 4.33
- Aerosmith: Power B(4), Speed B(4), Precision E(1). Total: 9. Average: 3.0
- Sex Pistols: Power E(1), Speed C(3), Precision A(5). Total: 9. Average: 3.0
- Purple Haze: Power A(5), Speed B(4), Precision E(1). Total: 10. Average: 3.33
- Moody Blues: Power C(3), Speed C(3), Precision C(3). Total: 9. Average: 3.0
Section 2: Travel
- 5.5 hours (220 / 40 = 5.5)
- 6 hours and 15 minutes (5.5 hours + 45 mins)
Section 4: Logic
- 2 Bullets (He had 5 he was willing to use; he fired 3, so 2 remain).
- 4/6 or 2/3 (The numbers are 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7. The odd numbers are 1, 3, 5, 7. That is 4 out of 6).
Section 5: Challenge Answers will vary. Generally: Using logic makes the victory feel "earned" and keeps the audience surprised. Examples could include Batman using gadgets or Hermione using a specific spell from earlier in the book.
