Welcome to your End-of-Year Strengths Reflection! At age 11, you discovered your top three unique strengths: Caring, Relating, and Presence. Now that you are 12 and preparing for 7th grade, it is time to look back at how you lived out these strengths during your homeschool year and plan how to "level them up" for next year.

Follow these steps to complete the worksheet:

  1. Warm-Up: Complete the Vocabulary Match in Part 1 to refresh your mind on what these strengths mean.
  2. Reflect & Record: Fill out the Strength Tracker table in Part 2. Read the example first, then write down your own real-life stories from your homeschool life, family, online communities, or hobbies.
  3. Set Goals: Complete the goal-setting prompts in Part 3 using strong action verbs.
  4. Apply: Solve the real-world scenario in Part 4 to show how you can combine all three strengths.

Part 1: Strength Vocabulary Match

Before diving into your own stories, match each strength with its core definition and a key action word. Draw a line or write the letter of the correct definition next to the strength.

Strength Definition Letter Key Action Word
1. Caring _____ A. Command
2. Relating _____ B. Empathize
3. Presence _____ C. Connect

Definitions:

  • X. You love building close, deep friendships and keeping them for a long time. You enjoy making sure new people feel included in your circle.
  • Y. You naturally take the lead, tell engaging stories, and capture people's attention. People look to you to see what to do next.
  • Z. Helping others is incredibly important to you. You look for ways to make the world a kinder place, whether through big actions or small, quiet gestures.

Part 2: The Strength Tracker

Reflect on your past year (age 11 to 12). Think about your homeschool co-op, online gaming groups, family life, sports, neighborhood friends, or how you interact with pets.

Review the example row below, then fill out the rest of the table based on your own experiences.

Strength Real-Life Example (What did you do?) Impact (How did this help or affect others?)
Example: Achieving I practiced my digital art program every day for three weeks to finish a comic strip for my portfolio. My family was proud of my dedication, and I inspired my younger brother to start his own comic book.
Caring
Relating
Presence
My Combo (Pick 2 strengths you used together)

Need a hint?

  • Caring: Did you help care for a sick pet? Help a sibling learn a new game? Send a kind message to an online friend who was having a bad day?
  • Relating: Did you reach out to a new homeschooler in your co-op? Keep in touch with a long-distance friend through regular video chats or gaming?
  • Presence: Did you lead a team in an online game? Put on a show or tell a funny story at dinner that got everyone laughing? Take charge of a group project?

Part 3: Language Arts - Goal Setting for 7th Grade

As you transition into 7th grade, your strengths will grow with you. Write a short, descriptive paragraph for each of your goals below. Use active, expressive verbs (e.g., cultivate, champion, coordinate, uplift).

1. My Goal for Caring: Next year, I want to use my Caring strength to help my family, community, or pets by...

2. My Goal for Relating: Next year, I want to expand or deepen my friendships (Relating) by...

3. My Goal for Presence: Next year, I want to step up as a leader or storyteller (Presence) by...

Part 4: Real-World Scenario Challenge

Read the scenario below and write a response explaining how you would use your strengths to save the day.

The Scenario: Your homeschool co-op or local youth group wants to host a virtual talent show and game night to raise money for a local animal shelter. However, the planning meeting is silent—nobody is volunteering to host, nobody knows how to get people to sign up, and the group is worried it will be boring.

How do you use your three strengths (Caring, Relating, and Presence) to make this event a massive success? Describe your plan of action below, detailing what role you would play and how you would work with others.

Answer Key & Exemplar Guide

Note to Educator/Parent: Because this is a highly personalized self-reflection worksheet, there are no "wrong" answers for the personal examples and goals. Below are the correct answers for Part 1, followed by high-quality exemplar responses for Parts 2, 3, and 4 to help guide evaluation.

Part 1: Strength Vocabulary Match

  • 1. Caring matches with Z (Definition) and B (Action Word: Empathize)
  • 2. Relating matches with X (Definition) and C (Action Word: Connect)
  • 3. Presence matches with Y (Definition) and A (Action Word: Command)

Part 2: The Strength Tracker (Exemplar Student Responses)

  • Caring: "When my dog was recovering from surgery, I volunteered to sit with him every afternoon, keep him calm, feed him his medicine on time, and make sure he didn't scratch his stitches." (Impact: "My parents didn't have to stress about his recovery while working, and my dog stayed safe and healed quickly.")
  • Relating: "There was a new kid who joined our online Minecraft build team who was really shy. I started private messaging him to ask about his build ideas and invited him to co-build a castle with me." (Impact: "He became a regular member of our group, stopped being shy, and we still play together every weekend.")
  • Presence: "During our homeschool co-op's history presentation day, I was chosen to be the main narrator for our group's play because I wasn't afraid to speak loudly and use funny voices." (Impact: "The audience laughed at all the right parts, and our group got a great evaluation from the co-op leader.")
  • My Combo (Caring + Presence): "I organized an online charity stream with three of my friends where I hosted a trivia game to raise money for food banks." (Impact: "We kept the audience entertained for two hours and raised $50.")

Part 3: Goal Setting for 7th Grade (Exemplar Student Responses)

  • Caring Goal: "Next year, I want to use my Caring strength to volunteer at least once a month at the community garden. I will nurture the plants and help harvest fresh vegetables for families in need."
  • Relating Goal: "Next year, I want to deepen my friendships by starting a monthly book and movie club with my homeschool friends. I will make sure we create a welcoming space where everyone feels safe to share their opinions."
  • Presence Goal: "Next year, I want to step up my leadership by starting my own YouTube channel where I teach beginner coding tutorials. I will speak confidently and use engaging visual stories to help other kids learn to code."

Part 4: Real-World Scenario Challenge (Exemplar Student Response)

"To solve this problem, I would first use my Caring strength to remind everyone why we are doing this: to help the animals at the shelter. I could share a heartwarming story about my own pet to get everyone emotionally invested. Next, I would step up using my Presence to volunteer as the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the event. I would offer to design a cool, funny digital flyer to show everyone how exciting the night will be. Finally, I would use my Relating strength to personally message members of our group who have cool talents but are too shy to sign up. I would encourage them, offer to practice with them, and make sure they feel supported so they feel comfortable performing in front of others."
