Meet the African Painted Dog
African painted dogs are wild animals that live in parts of Africa. They are also called African wild dogs or African painted wolves. Their scientific name is Lycaon pictus.
Each dog has a special coat pattern made of brown, black, white, yellow, and tan patches. No two painted dogs have exactly the same pattern. Their large, round ears help them hear, and their long legs help them run quickly.
Painted dogs live and hunt in packs. A pack is a family group. The dogs work together to find food and protect one another. They care for their pups as a team.
