About Socrates
Socrates was a philosopher from Ancient Greece who lived from 470 to 399 BC. He is often credited as one of the founders of Western philosophy. Socrates did not write any books himself. Instead, he taught through conversation and questioning, encouraging people to think critically and examine their own beliefs. He is best known for the Socratic Method, a form of cooperative argumentative dialogue that stimulates critical thinking.
His Death
Socrates was sentenced to death by drinking poison hemlock after being found guilty of corrupting the youth of Athens and impiety (disrespecting the gods). He chose to die rather than flee or renounce his beliefs, believing in the importance of following one's principles and the law.
