Chess lessons for kids
One-on-one chess lessons for kids, both in person in the Portland area and online. These lessons are great for for complete beginners and early intermediate players who want to build their skills, gain confidence, and enjoy the challenge of chess.
My teaching philosophy focuses on helping students understand how to think about chess. My specialties include calculation, visualization, and strategic thinking, but most importantly I adapt the lessons to each student’s experience, goals, and individual areas for improvement.
As an active tournament player and experienced chess instructor, I aim to make learning chess approachable, engaging, and rewarding.
