Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to make a cup of tea on your own.
Materials and Prep
- A kettle
- A cup
- A tea bag
- Hot water
- Sugar or honey (optional)
- A spoon
- A timer or clock
- An adult to supervise
Before we start, make sure you have all the materials ready and ask an adult to help you with the hot water.
Activities
- Boiling Water: Fill the kettle with cold water and place it on the stove. Turn on the heat and wait for the water to come to a boil.
- Preparing the Cup: While the water is boiling, take a cup and place a tea bag inside. If you like your tea sweet, you can add some sugar or honey.
- Pouring the Water: Once the water is boiling, carefully pour it into the cup over the tea bag. Be cautious not to spill or burn yourself.
- Steeping: Set a timer for 3-5 minutes and let the tea bag steep in the hot water. This is when the flavor of the tea infuses into the water.
- Removing the Tea Bag: After the timer goes off, use a spoon to gently squeeze the tea bag against the side of the cup to release any remaining liquid. Then, carefully remove the tea bag and place it aside.
- Enjoying Your Tea: Your cup of tea is now ready! Take a moment to smell the aroma and enjoy sipping your freshly brewed tea.
