Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will have a basic understanding of hairdressing techniques and be able to complete a simple hairstyle.

  • Hair ties
  • Hairspray
  • Mirror
  • Mannequin head (optional)
  • Access to online hairdressing tutorials

Prior knowledge required: Basic understanding of hair types and textures.

Activities

  • Activity 1: Practice Different Brushing Techniques
    Use a comb and brush to practice different brushing techniques such as backcombing, smoothing, and teasing. Experiment with different hair textures and lengths to see how the techniques vary.
  • Activity 2: Learn Basic Braiding
    Follow an online tutorial to learn and practice basic braiding techniques, such as a three-strand braid or a fishtail braid. Start with a mannequin head if available, or practice on your own hair.
  • Activity 3: Create a Simple Updo
    Use hair clips and hair ties to create a simple updo hairstyle. You can follow a tutorial or come up with your own design. Take pictures or video of the final result.
