Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a basic understanding of what nature is and some common examples of plants and animals found in your area.
Activities
- Go on a nature walk: Take a walk in your backyard, a nearby park, or a garden. Observe and collect different leaves, flowers, or rocks that you find interesting. Take pictures or draw sketches of the things you discover.
- Create a nature journal: Use the collected leaves, flowers, or rocks to create a nature journal. Write a description of each item, including where and when you found it. You can also draw pictures or press the leaves and flowers to preserve them.
- Identify plants and animals: Use books or online resources to identify the plants and animals you encountered during your nature walk. Write down their names and interesting facts about them in your nature journal.
- Build a bird feeder: Using materials you find at home, create a simple bird feeder to attract birds to your backyard. Hang it up and observe the different types of birds that visit. Make notes of the birds' colors, sizes, and behaviors.
