Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to demonstrate proficiency in swimming at level 8, including advanced strokes, diving techniques, and water safety skills.

Materials and Prep

  • Swimming pool
  • Swimming goggles
  • Swimming cap
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottle

Before starting the lesson, make sure the student is comfortable in the water and has basic swimming skills.

Activities

  • Warm-up: Begin with a few laps of freestyle swimming to get the body warmed up and ready for more advanced activities.

  • Advanced Strokes: Practice different advanced swimming strokes such as butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke. Focus on proper technique and body positioning.

  • Diving Techniques: Teach the student proper diving techniques, including diving off the starting blocks and diving from the side of the pool. Practice diving into different depths of water.

  • Water Safety Skills: Review important water safety skills such as treading water, floating on the back, and rescuing techniques. Emphasize the importance of always swimming with a buddy and following safety rules.

  • Cool-down: Finish the lesson with a few minutes of easy swimming or water-based stretching exercises to cool down the body.
