Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify different types of dinosaurs, count dinosaur eggs, and recognize basic shapes through dinosaur-themed activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Dinosaur toys or pictures
  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Markers or crayons
  • Blank paper

Activities

  • Create a Dinosaur Collage: Have the student cut out dinosaur pictures from magazines or draw their own dinosaurs on construction paper. Then, they can glue them onto a larger piece of paper to create a dinosaur collage.
  • Dinosaur Egg Counting: Draw or cut out several dinosaur eggs on construction paper. Write numbers on each egg and scatter them around the room. Have the student find the eggs and count the number on each one.
  • Shape Triceratops: Draw or print out a triceratops outline on construction paper. Cut out different shapes from other pieces of construction paper. Ask the student to identify each shape and glue them onto the triceratops to create a shape dinosaur.
  • Dinosaur Story Time: Read a dinosaur-themed storybook together and discuss the different types of dinosaurs mentioned in the story. Encourage the student to ask questions and share their thoughts about the dinosaurs.

  • "There were many different types of dinosaurs. Some had long necks, some had sharp teeth, and some could fly."
