Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to use English to talk about building and construction.
Materials and Prep
- Toy construction blocks or Legos
- Paper and crayons/markers
- A book about building or construction (optional)
Prior knowledge: Basic understanding of English vocabulary and sentence structure.
Activities
-
Building with Blocks:
Use the toy construction blocks or Legos to build different structures. As you build, describe what you are doing in English. For example, "I am stacking the blocks to make a tall tower."
-
Draw and Label:
Give the student a piece of paper and crayons/markers. Ask them to draw their dream house or a building they would like to create. Encourage them to label different parts of the drawing using English words.
-
Read a Book:
If you have a book about building or construction, read it together. Discuss the pictures and ask questions in English. For example, "What do you think the builders are doing in this picture?"
