Year at a Glance

Throughout the year, students will explore various art techniques and create their own artwork inspired by different themes.

Week 1

Objective

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to identify primary colors and create a color wheel.

Materials and Prep

  • White paper
  • Crayons or colored pencils in red, yellow, and blue

Activities

  • Introduce primary colors and explain their importance in art.
  • Guide the student in creating a color wheel by drawing a large circle on the paper and dividing it into six equal sections.
  • Instruct the student to color the three primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) in the appropriate sections, and then mix them to create the secondary colors (orange, green, and purple).
