Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to give suggestions and recommendations about health in English.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and pencils
  • Printed flashcards or pictures related to health (optional)

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Warm-up: Start by discussing different healthy habits with the student. Ask questions like:

    • "What do you do to stay healthy?"
    • "Why is it important to eat fruits and vegetables?"
    • "How can we keep our bodies strong?"

Encourage the student to share their ideas and thoughts.

  2. Vocabulary Practice: Introduce new vocabulary related to health, such as "exercise," "eat well," "drink water," "get enough sleep," etc. Show flashcards or pictures to help the student understand the words.

Ask the student to repeat the words after you and practice saying them in sentences.

  3. Role Play: Create a role play scenario where the student plays the role of a health advisor. Give them a pretend situation, such as a friend feeling tired or getting sick, and ask them to give suggestions and recommendations in English.

Encourage the student to use the vocabulary learned earlier. For example:

    • "You should drink more water to stay hydrated."
    • "Try to eat more fruits and vegetables for a healthy diet."
    • "Getting enough sleep will help you feel better."
  4. Writing Exercise: Ask the student to write a short paragraph about their own health suggestions. Provide sentence starters if needed, such as:

    • "I think it's important to..."
    • "One way to stay healthy is..."
    • "I recommend..."

Review and provide feedback on their writing.
