Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will have a basic understanding of women's history and be able to identify important women throughout history.
Materials and Prep
- Pen or pencil
- Blank paper
- Coloring materials (crayons, markers, etc.)
- Access to a computer or library for research (optional)
Activities
1. Create a Women's History Timeline: Have the student draw a line on a piece of paper and mark different points along the line to represent different time periods. Then, encourage them to research and draw pictures of important women from different time periods on the timeline.
2. Dress Up as an Inspiring Woman: Ask the student to choose a woman from history who inspires them. Help them create a simple costume or dress-up using items from around the house. Encourage the student to share why they chose that particular woman and what they admire about her.
3. Women's History Coloring Book: Provide the student with coloring pages depicting influential women throughout history. As they color, discuss the importance of each woman and why they are significant.
