Start by showing the student different types of Lego pieces and explaining their purpose. Let them explore the pieces and encourage them to ask questions.
Show the student the printed Lego building instructions with pictures. Explain that the pictures show the step-by-step process of building a Lego model. Discuss how to follow the pictures and match the Lego pieces accordingly.
Select a simple Lego model from the instructions and guide the student through the building process. Encourage them to follow the pictures and assemble the pieces accordingly. Provide assistance when needed.
Allow the student to choose a different Lego model from the instructions and attempt to build it independently. Offer guidance and support as necessary, but encourage them to rely on the picture directions.
Talking Points
- Legos are colorful building blocks that can be assembled in different ways.
- Picture directions show us how to build something step by step.
- We need to look at the pictures carefully and match the Lego pieces with what we see.
- If we get stuck, we can ask for help or look at the pictures again.
- It's okay to make mistakes! We can always take apart the pieces and try again.
