Activities
- Introduce the concept of using music as inspiration for writing. Explain that music can evoke emotions and tell stories without using words.
- Play a piece of instrumental music for the student. Encourage them to close their eyes and listen carefully, paying attention to how the music makes them feel and what images or scenes it brings to mind.
- After listening to the music, ask the student to write a short story based on their emotional response and the images or scenes they imagined while listening. Remind them to incorporate descriptive language and sensory details to bring their story to life.
- Allow the student ample time to complete their story. Once they are finished, have them read it aloud or share it with you.
- Engage in a discussion about the connection between music and writing. Ask the student to explain how the music influenced their story and how they used their imagination to create a narrative based on the emotions and imagery evoked by the music.
