Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to access and obtain information from a range of texts in a foreign language.
Materials and Prep
- Textbooks or online resources in the chosen foreign language
- Writing materials
- Computer or tablet with internet access (optional)
Activities
-
Reading Comprehension Practice:
Select a short passage in the foreign language and provide the student with a set of comprehension questions. Encourage the student to read the passage and answer the questions to test their understanding.
-
Online Research:
Ask the student to find an interesting article or blog post in the foreign language. They should read the text and summarize the main points in their own words. If the student is comfortable, they can also try translating some sentences into English.
-
Dialogues and Role-Play:
Create dialogues or scenarios where the student can practice accessing information. For example, you can pretend to be a tourist asking for directions in the foreign language, and the student can respond with the appropriate information.
Talking Points
