Activities
- Similarities and Differences Scavenger Hunt: Look around your home and find items that are similar to each other but also different. For example, find two different colored socks that are similar in size.
- Draw Your Qualities: Grab some paper and crayons, and draw a picture of yourself. Include things that make you special and unique. Then, share your drawing with a family member and talk about what makes you similar or different from others.
- Mirror Mirror: Stand in front of a mirror and describe what you see. Talk about your physical features and then discuss how those features might be similar or different from a friend or family member.
Talking Points
- Everyone is unique: "Just like how no two snowflakes are the same, no two people are exactly alike. We all have special qualities that make us different from each other."
- It's okay to be different: "Being different is what makes the world interesting! Imagine how boring it would be if we were all exactly the same. Our differences make us special."
- Find similarities: "Even though we are all unique, we also have things in common with others. We might like the same color, enjoy playing the same games, or have similar talents."
- Respect differences: "It's important to respect and appreciate the differences we have with others. Just because someone is different from you doesn't mean they are better or worse, just unique in their own way."
