Activities
- Shape Hunt: Go around your house and identify different shapes - squares, rectangles, triangles, and circles. Draw them in your notebook.
- Shape Art: Create a masterpiece using only shapes. Cut out different shapes from colored paper and glue them to create a picture.
- Shape Sorting: Draw different shapes on a piece of paper and cut them out. Sort them into groups of quadrilaterals and other polygons.
Talking Points
- Shapes are Everywhere: "Look around you, can you see any shapes? What shapes can you find in your room?"
- Quadrilaterals: "A quadrilateral is a shape with four sides. Can you find objects in your house that are shaped like quadrilaterals?"
- Polygons: "Polygons are shapes with many sides. Can you think of any polygon shapes you have seen before?"
- Describing Shapes: "How would you describe a square? What about a triangle? Let's use words to describe different shapes."
- Creating Shapes: "Can you use your ruler to draw a rectangle? How about a pentagon? Let's create different shapes together."
