Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the four seasons and the characteristics of each.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Crayons or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Glue
- No prior knowledge needed, just bring your imagination!
Activities
- Create a Seasons Wheel: Draw and color a circle on your paper. Divide it into four sections, one for each season. Draw and color symbols representing each season in their respective sections. Cut out an arrow and attach it to the center with a brad so you can spin it to the correct season.
- Seasons Scavenger Hunt: Look out the window or go outside and find something that represents each season. For example, a snowflake sticker for winter, a flower for spring, a sun for summer, and a leaf for fall.
- Seasons Sorting: Cut out pictures of different activities or items associated with each season (e.g., a snowman, beach ball, pumpkin, flower). Sort these pictures into the correct season category.
Talking Points
- Spring: "Spring comes after winter. It's when flowers bloom, and animals wake up from hibernation."
- Summer: "Summer is when the sun shines bright, and we can play outside in the warm weather. It's time for swimming and ice cream!"
- Fall: "During fall, the leaves change color and fall from the trees. It's also time for pumpkins, apples, and Halloween!"
- Winter: "Winter is when it gets cold, and we might see snow. It's time for building snowmen and drinking hot chocolate by the fire."
