Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to apply arithmetic concepts to a fun dance routine.
Materials and Prep
- Open space for dancing
- Music player
- Pen and paper
No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
-
Warm-up: Start by doing a simple dance warm-up routine for 5 minutes. This will help get your body ready for the main activity.
-
Counting Steps: Choose a dance move and count the number of steps it takes to complete it. Write down the number of steps on a piece of paper.
-
Addition Dance: Create a dance routine by combining different dance moves. Assign a number of steps to each move and add them together to get the total number of steps for the routine. Practice the routine multiple times.
-
Subtraction Dance: Modify the routine by removing some dance moves. Subtract the number of steps for the removed moves from the total number of steps. Practice the modified routine.
-
Multiplication Dance: Choose a dance move and decide on a number of repetitions. Multiply the number of steps for the move by the number of repetitions to calculate the total number of steps. Practice the routine with the multiplied steps.
