Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create a beautiful painting using different techniques and styles.

Materials and Prep

Materials needed:

  • Canvas or thick paper
  • Paints (acrylic or watercolor)
  • Paintbrushes of various sizes
  • Cup of water for rinsing brushes
  • Pencil and eraser
  • Palette for mixing colors

Before starting the lesson, make sure to cover your workspace with newspapers or a plastic tablecloth to avoid any mess.

Activities

1. Warm-up activity: Practice different brush strokes on a spare piece of paper to get comfortable with the brushes.

2. Choose a subject for your painting, such as a landscape, still life, or abstract design.

3. Sketch your subject lightly on the canvas using a pencil.

4. Start painting! Experiment with colors, blending, and different brush techniques to bring your painting to life.
