Activities

  1. Activity: Analyzing Data

    Collect data on the dimensions (length, width, and height) of five different objects in your house. Organize the data in a table and calculate the mean, median, and mode of each dimension. Discuss the significance of these measures and how they can be used in engineering to ensure accuracy and precision.

  2. Activity: Probability in Engineering

    Research a specific engineering project or problem that interests you. Identify and analyze the probability factors involved in the project's success. Discuss how statistical techniques, such as probability distributions and hypothesis testing, can be applied to assess risks and make informed decisions in engineering.

  3. Activity: Data Visualization

    Create a bar graph or pie chart to represent a set of data related to an engineering concept of your choice (e.g., energy consumption, material strength). Explain the advantages and limitations of using different types of graphs/charts in presenting data effectively. Discuss how visualizations can assist engineers in communicating complex information.
