Materials and Prep
- Letter flashcards (A-Z)
- Whiteboard and marker
- Printed word cards

No prior knowledge needed, just a willingness to learn and have fun!
Activities
- Letter Sound Matching: Show Grayson a letter flashcard and ask him to say the sound that letter makes. Encourage him to repeat after you.
- Word Building: Use the letter flashcards to help Grayson build simple words like "cat", "dog", and "sun". Have him sound out each letter as he builds the word.
- Word Recognition: Show Grayson printed word cards with simple words on them. Ask him to identify the words and sound them out.
Talking Points
- "Let's learn about letters and the sounds they make! This is the letter 'A'. Can you say 'A' like in 'apple'?"
- "Now, let's use the letters to build a word. Let's put 'C', 'A', 'T' together. What word did we make? Cat!"
- "Great job! Now, let's try to read this word together. What letters do you see in the word 'sun'? S-U-N. Sun!"
