Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to engage in musical activities inspired by Ms. Rachel videos.

Materials and Prep

  • Device with internet access to watch Ms. Rachel videos
  • Space for movement and dancing
  • Optional: Musical instruments or objects that can be used as instruments (e.g., pots and pans, wooden spoons)

Activities

  1. Warm-up Dance Party

    Start by playing a lively Ms. Rachel video and encourage the student to dance freely. Join in the dancing and have fun together!

  2. Instrument Exploration

    Show the student different musical instruments or objects that can be used as instruments. Discuss their names, sounds, and how they are played. Encourage the student to explore and experiment with the instruments or objects.

  3. Musical Storytelling

    Select a Ms. Rachel video that tells a story through music. Watch the video together and discuss the characters, plot, and emotions portrayed in the music. Ask the student to create their own story based on the music, using their imagination and movements.

  4. Sing and Play Along

    Choose a Ms. Rachel video that involves singing and playing along with simple actions or movements. Sing along with the video and encourage the student to join in. Use the optional instruments or objects to add extra fun and sound to the activity.
