Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will learn about the concept of Empire State Building and why it is an important landmark.

Materials and Prep

Materials needed: paper, crayons/markers, ruler, and a computer with internet access.

Before the lesson, make sure to have some pictures of the Empire State Building ready to show the student.

Activities

  • Draw Your Own Skyscraper

    Ask the student to draw their own skyscraper using the paper and crayons/markers. Encourage them to be creative!

  • Measure and Compare Heights

    Using the ruler, measure the height of the student and then look up the height of the Empire State Building online. Compare the two heights together.

  • Build a Tower

    Using blocks or any building materials you have, build a tower together. Talk about how the Empire State Building was built similarly but on a much larger scale.
