Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will learn how to plant seeds and take care of plants.
Materials and Prep
Materials needed: soil, seeds (e.g. sunflower, bean), small pots or cups, water, sunlight.
Make sure to have a designated area for planting and access to sunlight for the plants.
Activities
1. Planting Seeds: Help your student plant seeds in small pots or cups filled with soil. Show them how to water the seeds gently.
2. Sunlight Experiment: Place one plant in direct sunlight and another in a shaded area. Observe and compare how they grow differently.
3. Plant Care Routine: Teach your student how to check the soil moisture and water the plants when needed. Discuss the importance of sunlight for plant growth.
Talking Points
- Plants need soil to grow. You can say, "Plants need soil to give them nutrients to grow big and strong."
- Water is essential for plants. Tell your student, "Plants drink water through their roots just like we drink water to stay healthy."
- Sunlight helps plants make food. Explain, "Plants use sunlight to make their own food through a process called photosynthesis."
- Plants need care just like pets. Say, "Taking care of plants by watering them and giving them sunlight is like taking care of a pet."
