Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create props for cosplay using practical arts techniques.

Materials and Prep

  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • X-Acto knife
  • Hot glue gun
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Reference images of desired props

Prior knowledge of basic prop making techniques is helpful but not required.

Activities

  1. Choose a prop from your favorite anime, movie, or video game that you would like to create.

  2. Research and gather reference images of the prop from different angles.

  3. Using cardboard, cut out the basic shapes and pieces needed for your prop.

  4. Assemble the pieces together using hot glue or other appropriate adhesives.

  5. Use the X-Acto knife to add details and refine the shape of your prop.

  6. Paint your prop using acrylic paint, and add any additional details or weathering effects.

  7. Allow the paint to dry completely before using or displaying your prop.
