Talking Points
- Remember, creativity in movement is about expressing yourself freely through your body. As dancer Martha Graham said, "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion."
- Don't be afraid to try new movements and experiment with different ways of moving. As choreographer Twyla Tharp said, "Art is the only way to run away without leaving home."
- It's important to listen to your body and move in a way that feels natural and comfortable to you. As dancer and actor Mikhail Baryshnikov said, "Fundamentals are the building blocks of fun."
- Have fun and enjoy the process of exploring creative movement. As dancer and choreographer Merce Cunningham said, "You have to love dancing to stick to it. It gives you nothing back, no manuscripts to store away, no paintings to show on walls and maybe hang in museums, no poems to be printed and sold, nothing but that single fleeting moment when you feel alive."
