Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to write a creative and engaging film review.

Materials and Prep

  • Computer or notebook for writing
  • Pencil and paper
  • Access to a movie for review
  • Basic understanding of film genres and elements

Activities

  • Watch and Analyze: Have the student watch a movie of their choice and take notes on the plot, characters, setting, and overall impact.
  • Identify Themes: Discuss with the student the themes and messages portrayed in the movie. Encourage them to think about the underlying messages.
  • Write the Review: Guide the student in writing a film review that includes a brief summary, analysis of the plot and characters, personal opinion, and recommendation.
  • Peer Review: Have the student exchange reviews with a peer or family member for feedback and suggestions for improvement.

  • Introduction: "Start your review with a catchy introduction that provides a brief overview of the movie and grabs the reader's attention."
  • Plot Analysis: "Discuss the plot of the movie, including any twists or key events that drive the story forward."

  • Personal Opinion: "Share your personal opinion on the movie, highlighting what you liked or disliked about it."
