Objective

By the end of this lesson, Elisabeth will be able to use natural materials to create her own mud cakes while exploring her creativity and imagination.

Materials and Prep

Materials needed: mud, leaves, pinecones, twigs, rocks, water, and any other natural items Elisabeth wants to use.

Before the lesson, make sure there is a suitable outdoor area where Elisabeth can freely explore and create her mud cakes.

Activities

  • Mud Cake Creations: Let Elisabeth gather different natural materials like leaves, pinecones, and rocks to decorate her mud cakes. Encourage her to experiment with different designs and patterns.
  • Nature Scavenger Hunt: Take a walk together to collect various natural items that can be used in her mud cakes. This activity will also help Elisabeth learn about different textures and colors in nature.
  • Storytelling Time: After creating her mud cakes, have Elisabeth come up with a story about the cakes and the creatures that might enjoy them. This will encourage her language and narrative skills.
