Objective

By the end of this lesson, Elisabeth will be able to create and participate in interactive storytelling outdoors.

Materials and Prep

  • Imagination
  • Comfortable outdoor space
  • No other materials required, just a sense of adventure!

Activities

  • Story Circle: Sit in a circle outdoors and take turns adding to a story. Start with "Once upon a time..."
  • Character Hunt: Walk around and find objects that could belong to characters in a story. Use them to create a character and tell their story.
  • Sound Scavenger Hunt: Listen carefully to the sounds around you and incorporate them into a story you create together.

Talking Points

  • Imagination is key: "Imagine we are in a magical forest where anything can happen!"
  • Listen and take turns: "Let's listen to each other's ideas and take turns adding to the story."
  • Use your surroundings: "Look around you, what can you see that can be part of our story?"
  • Have fun with sound: "What sound do you hear? How can we include it in our story?"
  • Be creative: "There are no wrong answers in storytelling, let your imagination run wild!"
