Objective

The objective of this lesson is for the student to explore and create music using their own body and voice.

Materials and Prep

  • No materials are needed for this lesson.
  • Ensure a quiet and comfortable space for the student to move and make sounds.

Activities

  • Warm-up: Start by stretching and moving the body to prepare for making music.

  • Body Percussion: Teach the student different ways to create sounds using their body, such as clapping hands, stomping feet, and patting their thighs.

  • Vocal Exploration: Encourage the student to experiment with their voice by making different sounds like humming, whispering, and singing different pitches.

  • Imaginary Instrument Play: Have the student pretend to play different instruments using their body movements and vocalizations.

  • Create a Sound Story: Guide the student to create a short sound story by combining different body percussion and vocal sounds. They can use their imagination to tell a story through sounds.

  • Performance: Let the student perform their sound story for you or other family members.
