Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will have a better understanding of the geography of Australia.

Materials and Prep

Materials: World map, coloring pencils, paper

Prep: Familiarize yourself with the shape of Australia on the map.

Activities

  • Coloring the Map: Print out a map of Australia and use your coloring pencils to color it in. Make sure to include the oceans surrounding Australia.
  • Capital Cities: Learn about the capital cities of Australia - Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. Point them out on the map.
  • Animal Fun: Research some unique animals found in Australia, such as kangaroos, koalas, and emus. Draw your favorite Australian animal.
  • Aboriginal Art: Discover Aboriginal art and try to create your own dot painting inspired by their traditional art style.
