Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to throw a ball across the room with accuracy and control.
Materials and Prep
Materials needed: A soft ball that can be thrown indoors.
Make sure the room is clear of any obstacles that could be knocked over by the ball.
Activities
1. Practice throwing the ball at a target on the wall, aiming for different heights.
2. Play a game of catch with a family member or friend, trying to throw the ball accurately to each other.
3. Create a makeshift "bowling" game by setting up empty plastic bottles and trying to knock them down with your throws.
Talking Points
- Hold the ball with your fingers spread out for a good grip. Remember, "Hold the ball like you're holding a sandwich, not an egg."
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and point your non-throwing shoulder towards the target. Think, "Step forward with the foot opposite my throwing hand."
- Swing your throwing arm back and then forward, releasing the ball at the right moment. Say to yourself, "Back, forward, release!"
- Follow through after releasing the ball by extending your arm towards the target. Imagine you are waving to a friend far away.
- Practice makes perfect! The more you practice, the better you'll get at throwing accurately. Remember, "Practice makes progress!"
