Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to watch a movie and engage in language arts activities related to reading.

Materials and Prep

  • A movie of your choice
  • A device to watch the movie on (e.g., TV, computer, tablet)
  • A notebook or paper
  • Pencils or crayons

Make sure you have a comfortable and quiet space to watch the movie.

Activities

  1. Choose a movie that you would like to watch.
  2. Before starting the movie, write down the title of the movie and draw a picture related to it.
  3. While watching the movie, pay attention to the characters, settings, and events. Think about how the story is being told.
  4. After watching the movie, write a short summary of what happened. Include the main characters and the important events in the story.
  5. Draw another picture to represent your favorite part of the movie.
  6. Share your summary and favorite part with a family member or friend. You can also act out a scene from the movie if you'd like!
