Objective

By the end of this lesson, Elisabeth will learn how to make paper butterflies and measure how far they can fly.

Materials and Prep

  • Colorful paper
  • Scissors
  • Ruler or measuring tape
  • Pencil
  • Open space for flying the paper butterflies

No prior knowledge needed, just enthusiasm and creativity!

Activities

  • Create Paper Butterflies: Elisabeth can cut out colorful paper in the shape of butterflies. Encourage her to be creative with the colors and patterns.
  • Fly the Butterflies: Have Elisabeth fly the paper butterflies in an open space. Measure how far each butterfly flies using the ruler or measuring tape.
  • Record and Compare: Help Elisabeth record the distances each butterfly flew. Compare the distances and discuss which butterfly flew the farthest.
