Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will learn about important people in history and how they helped make the world a better place.

Materials and Prep

  • Colorful markers or crayons
  • Blank paper
  • Excitement to learn!

No prior knowledge needed, just a curious mind!

Activities

  • Create a drawing of your favorite historical figure and explain why you admire them.
  • Draw a picture of a person from history who inspires you, like Abraham Lincoln or Rosa Parks. Then, tell me why you think they are amazing!

  • Role-play a historical event with your toys or family members.
  • Pick a historical event, like the moon landing or the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and act it out with your toys or family members.

  • Watch a short animated video about a famous historical figure.
  • Let's watch a fun video about a famous person from history, like Martin Luther King Jr. or Amelia Earhart, and discuss what we learned.

Talking Points

  • Who is your favorite historical figure and why?
  • "Can you tell me about a person from history that you really like? What did they do that makes you admire them?"

  • What do you think it was like to live a long time ago?
  • "Imagine living in a time without cars or computers! What do you think life was like for people in the past?"

  • How do you think history has changed the world?
  • "History is like a big storybook that tells us about the past. How do you think the things people did in the past have made the world a better place?"
