Objective

By the end of this lesson, Louie will be able to understand the concept of communities and the roles of different community helpers.

Materials and Prep

No prior knowledge needed, just bring your curiosity and creativity!

Activities

  • Community Helper Coloring: Color pictures of different community helpers like police officers, doctors, and firefighters. Discuss their roles as you color.
  • Community Scavenger Hunt: Look around your home and identify different community helpers you see in your neighborhood (mail carrier, garbage collector, etc).
  • Research Time: Use a computer or tablet to look up more information about a community helper that interests you. Draw a picture and write a short description.
