Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create a shoe bag for dance using sewing techniques, zippers, and rip stop fabric.

Materials and Prep

Materials Needed:

  • Sewing machine
  • Rip stop fabric
  • Zippers
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Measuring tape

Prep: Make sure the sewing machine is set up and ready to use. Have all materials organized and easily accessible.

Activities

  • Activity 1: Design Planning
    Use a piece of paper to sketch out your shoe bag design. Decide on the dimensions and where you want to place the zippers.
  • Activity 2: Cutting and Pinning
    Measure and cut the rip stop fabric according to your design. Pin the fabric pieces together to prepare for sewing.
  • Activity 3: Sewing and Adding Zippers
    Practice sewing straight lines on scrap fabric before sewing the actual bag. Attach the zippers to the bag using the sewing machine.
  • Activity 4: Final Touches
    Trim any excess threads, turn the bag right side out, and admire your finished shoe bag!
