Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and apply basic math concepts through engaging Lego activities.
Materials and Prep
- Lego bricks of various colors and sizes
- Paper and pencil
- A clear workspace
No prior knowledge needed, just bring your enthusiasm for Lego!
Activities
- Building Shapes: Use Lego bricks to create different shapes like squares, rectangles, and triangles. Count the number of bricks used for each shape.
- Addition Tower: Build a tower using Lego bricks. Roll a dice, and add that number of bricks to your tower. Keep rolling and adding until your tower falls. Practice addition in a fun way!
- Pattern Play: Create color patterns using Lego bricks. For example, red, blue, red, blue. Ask yourself or a friend to continue the pattern.
Talking Points
- Quotation: "Let's count the number of Lego bricks in our square. 1, 2, 3, 4! There are 4 bricks in our square shape."
- Quotation: "Wow, our tower is getting taller! We rolled a 3, so let's add 3 more bricks. 1 + 3 equals 4. Let's keep building!"
- Quotation: "Can you guess the next color in our pattern? Red, blue, red... That's right, it's blue! Great job!"
