Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify different types of plants and understand their importance in the environment.

Materials and Prep

  • Plants vs Zombies 2 game (or images from the game)
  • Paper and crayons for drawing
  • Access to a garden or plant pot

No prior knowledge needed, just enthusiasm for learning!

Activities

  • Play Plants vs Zombies 2 game together and identify different plants in the game.
  • Discuss the characteristics of each plant and why they are important in defending against zombies.

  • Go to the garden or observe a plant pot and identify real-life plants.
  • Encourage the student to touch and smell the plants while discussing their colors and shapes.

  • Create a drawing of their favorite plant from the game or from real life.
  • Ask the student to explain why they chose that specific plant and what they like about it.

  • Plants are living things that need water, soil, and sunlight to grow.
  • "Plants are like us, they need water and sunlight to be healthy!"

  • Plants produce oxygen for us to breathe and provide food for animals.
  • "Plants give us air to breathe and food for our animal friends!"

  • Each plant is unique and has different shapes, colors, and sizes.
  • "Plants can be big, small, red, green, or even have funny shapes like in the game!"
