Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify different parts of a tree, understand why trees are important, and create a tree-themed artwork.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Crayons or colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Optional: Tree identification book or app

No prior knowledge needed. Just bring your creativity and curiosity!

Activities

  • Create a tree artwork: Have the student draw a tree using crayons or colored pencils, then cut out leaves from green paper and glue them onto the tree.
  • Tree identification game: Go outside and try to identify different trees in your surroundings. Use the optional book or app for help.
  • Counting tree leaves: Have the student count the number of leaves on a tree branch and practice writing the numbers.
