Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand basic addition and subtraction concepts through fun activities.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Colorful markers or crayons
- Your thinking cap!
No prior knowledge needed, just come ready to learn and have fun!
Activities
- 1. Counting with Colors: Use your markers to draw circles of different colors on the paper. Count how many circles you have of each color.
- 2. Addition Adventure: Draw some cute animals on the paper. Ask a family member to give you a number, then draw that many more animals. Count them all up!
- 3. Subtraction Story: Draw a simple scene on the paper, like a house with trees. "Remove" some trees and count how many are left. That's subtraction!
Talking Points
- Counting: "Let's count together! 1, 2, 3, 4... Can you count the circles you drew?"
- Addition: "When we add more animals, we get a bigger group! What happens when we add 2 more animals to our group?"
- Subtraction: "Subtraction is like magic! If we take away some trees, how many trees are left in our picture?"
