Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to observe and appreciate nature through journaling, creative writing, and engaging activities that spark your imagination and love for nature.

Materials and Prep

  • Journal or notebook
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Colored pencils
  • Markers
  • Pencils
  • Nature Study Backpack (filled with items like magnifying glass, binoculars, small containers for collecting specimens)

Before starting the lesson, make sure your Nature Study Backpack is ready with all the necessary items for exploring nature.

Activities

  • Take a nature walk with your Nature Study Backpack and observe different plants, insects, and animals. Collect small items like leaves or rocks.
  • Create a nature journal entry describing your favorite thing you observed during the walk. Use colored pencils to draw a picture of it.
  • Write a short story about a magical creature that you imagine could live in the area you explored. Use markers to illustrate your creature.
  • Use your collected items to create a nature collage in your journal. Write about why each item is special to you.
